The dry season runs from April to October — clear skies, low humidity, perfect for outdoor dining and day trips. The wet season brings lush green landscapes and fewer crowds, with rain usually arriving in short afternoon bursts rather than all day.

Taxis and ride-apps cover the main areas but a rented scooter opens up the island properly. Traffic in town can be heavy midday — early morning and evening rides are far more pleasant. Always carry cash for small shops and warungs.

Tap water is not drinkable — stick to bottled or filtered water. Street food is excellent and safe if the stall is busy (high turnover = fresh ingredients). For a proper sit-down Italian meal with a cold drink, you already know where to come.
